So, it’s not a Christmas kit. :D But it’s still a good one! Create was inspired by children’s art work- their choice of colors, papers, textures, etc. Create is the perfect kit for showcasing your child’s best work!

The Photography List

I have been scrapping since 2002, but I’ve been in love with photography since my dad handed me his old Canon AE-1 in high school. I’ve decided to put my experiences in list form, hoping that someone, somewhere benefits from it (maybe you’ll get a giggle out of it. I hope so. I like making people laugh).

  1. The camera doesn’t have to be fancy to get a great shot. The camera doesn’t make the shot- the person behind it does.
  2. Candid photos are the best.
  3. Find the setting for taking delayed/multiple shots at once. I *heart* this setting on my Sony. It’s great for sports, holidays, kids playing in snow, water, sand, riding bikes, etc. Just set the camera to the multi-shot setting, point at the subject, and hold the button down, letting the camera work it’s magic. That’s how I got this shot of my nephew throwing a snowball at my son. If I had waited for this shot, I wouldn’t have gotten it. But with the multi-shot setting, I was able to get this shot, with snowball in mid air.
  4. Make sure that your battery is charged at all times. Too many times, I’ve gone to use my camera, only to find that the battery was almost dead.
  5. Double check that you have a memory card in the camera.
  6. Invest in extra batteries and memory cards.
  7. If the sun is to your subject’s back, you’ll end up with a great shot of the background… but your subject will be a silhouette.
  8. You can fake anything from depth of field to vintage images in Photoshop.
  9. You can erase anything from wrinkles to pimples to jerky exes in Photoshop. There’s nothing wrong with hiding life’s imperfections.
  10. Hand your camera to your child at least once a year, preferably once a month. This is a great way to see the world through your child’s eyes.
  11. DID YOU CHARGE YOUR BATTERY?
  12. Life is more than special events. Don’t be afraid to be ‘that mom’ that takes pictures of her kids leaving school on a Friday for no reason at all.
  13. DO YOU HAVE YOUR MEMORY CARD?
  14. Don’t be shy.
  15. For sports parents- take your camera, walk right up to the chain link fence, and stick the lens through. This is the best- and easiest way- to get great action shots, without chain link in the way.
  16. Crop, Crop, Crop.
  17. Sometimes, backgrounds are great.
  18. Little toes don’t stay little for long.
  19. Photograph your child’s art work.
  20. Battery. Is it charged?  Is it in your camera? Do you have a spare? Is it charged?
  21. Where is your memory card?
  22. Get a second camera. Hand it to your husband. This will keep him away from your camera (or it will give you a second camera when his photography habits start to annoy you).
  23. Digital picture frames are awesome.
  24. Be organized! Label folders with dates and events.
  25. Last- check the battery. Is it charged? And what about your memory stick? Do you know where it is?

OMG! I Forgot!

*hanging my head in shame*

In all the hullabaloo yesterday, I completely forgot to set my sale! Ack! The hubs and I had made plans to go christmas shopping, and when we woke up, I had to get kids dressed, and fed, and out the door to Grandma’s house. I didn’t even remember until this morning.

Since this is the only place that I advertised it (probably the only time that being prepared has gotten me in trouble!), I’m offering, as way of apology, a coupon!

The kit that I was going to discount to a dollar yesterday, I’m now offering a coupon code to get that kit FREE!
